The division of anesthesiology at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters provides anesthesia, perioperative and pain management services at CHKD and also for any CHKD patients who require anesthesia at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. In addition, the anesthesiologists are involved in many diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and perform preoperative screening and assessments.
The type of anesthesia a child receives and how he receives it depends on the procedure he's having and his medical condition.
